iGoogle
Are you using iGoogle? I have it as my homepage and it’s been a great way for me to keep up on the news (world, US, business and tech) in a quick and easy way. In case you didn’t already know, you can greatly customize iGoogle to work for you. Not only can you choose your own gadgets but you can choose your own feeds. I have mine set to give me the news from the places I trust and frequent the most.
Just click on the tabs in iGoogle and then click on “add stuff.” It will give you a list of items to choose. When you finish choosing what you want, look on the left side of the screen and there will be a link at the bottom to add feed or gadget. Click on that and then enter the feed url that you want and your iGoogle page will update.
It’s a simple but nice little productivity tool that I use.
Information Seized- Be Prepared
Here is a link to an interesting article at PC World on what to expect when crossing the borders when coming into the US with your laptop.
Seems some people have had their laptops and other electronic devices including cameras and PDAs searched and even seized temporarily.
The article mentions that we should be prepared to have info. downloaded from our comp. also.
Some of their tips for dealing with this include:
- Not having anything on your laptop that you are uncomfortable with others seeing such as passwords.
- Transferring any important information to another machine through email before crossing.
I would add- consider using online applications for certain information since it is accessible from any comp. and you don’t have to worry about all of your info. being lost or viewed if your machine is stolen or seized.
